Frequently Asked Questions

  • What products can you apply?
Both liquid and granular products. Some of the more common liquid applications are fungicides, foliar fertilizers, and insecticides. Examples of granular applications would be broadcast cover crops and fertilizers.
  • How much do you charge?
There isn't a one-size-fits-all number, as the cost per acre will be determined by field size, product, and the application rate required. However, in general, we will be in line with other forms of aerial application.
  • How many acres per hour can your drone spray?
The benchmark is 40 acres per hour for those products where we apply 2 gallons per acre. Fungicide would be a good example of this. When it comes to cover crop, that number is usually cut in half or more.
  • How fast can the drones fly?
The drone can fly up to 22 mph in an automated flight.
  • How wide is your drone capable of spraying?
Depends on the elevation. If the drone flies roughly 10 feet above the crop on average, you can expect around 30 feet of swath.
  • How big are the drones you use?
When empty - 83 lbs. With a full payload - up to 220 lbs.
  • Are you licensed/certified to do this?
Yes, there are a few different licenses we were required to obtain: The FAA Part 107 allows us to fly drones for commercial use FAA Part 137 governs the use of aircraft, including drones, to dispense or spray substances. In addition, a weight exemption is filed with this as our drones are over 55 pounds. State Pesticide Applicators License - in order to properly handle the chemicals required for application, we needed to pass an exam and participate in continuing education.
